Mar. 16th, 2008 @ 11:56 pm The Colour of Magic
Really looking forward to the dramatisation of Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic, which starts next Sunday on Sky One!

Sean Astin as Twoflower seems perfectly cast with good old David Jason as Rincewind!

In case you haven't read it - you should you know - Rincewind is the useless wizard who meets the naive tourist Twoflower in Ankh Morpork and get thrown into incredible adventures.

Here are some piccies from the show...

Mar. 15th, 2008 @ 08:01 pm Empty - Episode 3
Empty this week was not as good as last week, it had to be said. Not because of BB, but some of the stuff going on around was less than funny, especially the PM fixated rapper! But still worth watching nevertheless!

So that was a nasty hammer blow - ouch!

But here are some more piccies anyway – quite a lot of tea related things going on you may notice.

Mar. 12th, 2008 @ 06:46 pm A Wee Story - Stuck on You by GW & Ll
This is a bad, wicked, naughty story that deserves to be punished! It was born of a trans-Atlantic telephone call, an exchange of a picture and a demand from [info]marigoldg to have it done by morning!

GW wrote the script – I converted it into a story – the rest is… well you can see for yourselves what the rest is (or isn't).

I believe the original picture belongs to Thalassa and Annie B, so credit and blame to them in equal parts.

Oh and before you read, you do have to look at the picture – I'm sorry, I know it's difficult, but it won't work if you don't. Now take a good long look and then read on…

This chapter is called 12, oh and subtitled, A Hundred Engines Laid End-To-End

Please enjoy, and if you do, please review as well, because that would be splendid!

Feb. 8th, 2008 @ 05:34 pm The Great Hobbiton Race of 1435 is finally updated.
I apologise for the prolonged delay in bringing this next episode in the "Lawnmower" saga to readers (if you're still out there) but in other less apology-worth news can report that more chapters are waiting in the wings and that the whole story is all but finished. So you may read in the confident knowledge that more may well come soon!

The next bit (I'll Wager It's A Dragon!) is here

Enjoy (I hope!)

Jan. 18th, 2008 @ 05:34 pm Bobby Fischer
The news today of Bobby Fischer's passing brought back some memories!

I remember desperately trying to buy our first flat on my own, during the housing boom in London, while Tim was stuck in Iceland covering the World Chess Championship!

I was trying to get him on the phone and it took 3 days to get through – hard to imagine now! I eventually bought a two bedroom flat in Muswell Hill for the princely sum of £6k! Yes six thousand pounds sterling! Again doesn't seem possible now.

The Times On-line has pulled together a few of Tim's pieces from that time as well as dragging him off his sickbed to write a few pars for them. It's here

Jan. 5th, 2008 @ 04:09 pm Twelth Night
The Yuletide Season is almost o'er - so in celebration of Twelth Night here is a little story which was originally written for Marigold's Bonfire Challenge.

It is also dedicated to Pipkin Sweetgrass. Because of the strength of her fascination in the relationship between Merry and Pippin and Boromir, I was inspired to make the Gondorian the agent provocateur of this piece. Therefore this story is dedicated to Ginger [info]thebeecharmer with appreciation for her insight and bonnie memories of Scotland!

You should find it here

I haven't updated Recaptured (but I will soon - promsis).

I haven't updated the lawnmower story (ditto).

But I have written a short Frodo and Sam story!

Bit of a departure for me, abandoning Merry and Pippin, but these things happen.

Give it a go!

Jun. 7th, 2007 @ 11:43 pm Tea and Crumpets
I've had this (implied) slashy little story for ages on ff.net, one of the earliest I wrote. Looking for somewhere else to post it, I was stumped (because it's not slash, but it's going in that direction), so I thought hey! put it on lj!

The slash is all behind closed doors and in your salacious, vivid imaginations, so if you don't have a salacious imagination you'd better go and get one (try e-bay) before reading, because the story ain't gonna do it for you!

Some people think it's funny, but you'll probably need a liking for cute humour.(see above)

Okay, enough chat - on to the WARNING IMPLIED SLASH AND CUTE HUMOUR )

Feb. 21st, 2007 @ 01:35 am Recaptured Updated
I have finally updated Recaptured.

If anyone was thinking that I was never going to update because
a) I'd lost interest or
b) I was bone idle or
c) I couldn't remember what to write

Then c) would be correct.

I had promised faster updates when last I posted, but then I sat and looked at the screen and didn't know what was supposed to happen. I was as much in the dark as the readers.

Then I remember what happened – either that or Eroo whispered it in my ear. But either way, I now know exacterly where the story is going and what the future holds for them all. I even have a sequel planned.

So if you have been daunted at reading so long a story with no appreciable end in sight, do not fear gentle reader – there is finally a conclusion! It just isn't written yet. But now I know it will be.

Hey – I finished Eastgate didn't I? And we won't even go into Moria's Revenge!

Anyway – it's here

And Frodo's mad, Pippin's getting the brunt, Merry's tired, Sam's worried, Smag's suspicious, Majdi helping, Gollum's pissed off, Eroo's chatty, Bloggin's bossy, Vimta's not having a good day and Sauron's getting even.

Enjoy (I hope!)

Jan. 28th, 2007 @ 02:21 am My first Grandchild!!
All right, so it's early days, and this picture is still "embryonic" (can't even tell if it's a girl or a boy) but can't help being excited!

When I asked my son what they intended to call him/her, he said,

"Sandy if it's a girl, or Diego if it's a boy!"

"What?"

"Well," he explained, "it's a tradition these days to call children after the place they were conceived!"

I knew that six weeks in San Diego would do them both good!

A picture is under the cut )

If anyone wants an update on [info]marigoldg and my adventures with Bob the Campervan and you live in the UK, pick up a copy of Saturday's Times tomorrow.

Here's a rough draft they already sent me - see if you know which is which? Oh and the cross picture at the bottom is Mr Llinos, who was less than pleased, not about Bob, but because they used a stock personnel picture of him!

Jan. 2nd, 2007 @ 09:06 pm Of KnittedHobbits, Friends and Gardens
[info]marigoldg made a kind entry in her journal here about the magnificent [info]knittedmerry and slightly less magnificent, but infinitely huggable [info]knittedpippin explaining how much work it takes to satisfy this demanding pair when it comes to photoshoots, with intricate costume designs and endless retakes until each of their adventures is close to perfect.

Of course [info]knittedmerry demands perfection in all that he does and is a hard taskmaster at times. He has fired more make-up artistes and wardrobe mistresses than you can shake a stick at, to say nothing of hairdressers and grips and best boys!

Nevertheless, I feel his is a talent worth nurturing, and to receive so many encouraging comments from so many people on [info]marigoldg's journal makes it all worthwhile.

One little thing I would like to explain. Sometimes [info]knittedmerry will grant audiences to his many fans and of course adventures ensue and pictures are taken. However, through no fault of the lads, but purely because I am distracted by meeting people and socialising with them, the resulting pictures are often just not up to scratch!

[info]knittedmerry and I have had words about this, as you can imagine, but one thing on which we both agree is that the pictures have to be spot-on to meet his high standards

[info]knittedpippin has come up with the bright idea of publishing a Magnificent Photo Album, containing all the (sometimes rather artificially) posed pictures taken of famous people they have both met over the years. KM and I think this might just work and if you would like to see such a thing please let me know.

In the meantime, any fears that might have existed that [info]knittedmerry and I had irrevocably fallen out, (on account of him and KP recklessly digging up my garden to find Spring and then threatening to move out and live with Marigold) can be finally put to rest.

KnittedSam came to the rescue, with the aid of the delightful and skilled gardener Eddie. (Honestly, those two are so alike I can hardly tell them apart!) Here they are having spent several hard days digging and planting and building a summer cabin for [info]knittedmerry to enjoy the garden from. Looks good! Don't you think?

I guess you Americans didn't see the UK X-Factor show, but I'm sure that you fans of all things Scottish would have voted for the MacDonald Bros.

To see them check out this site:

Brian and Craig MacDonald

You can also see them performing on a You tube video, although the picture quality is not great.

I can't believe Simon Cowell gave them such a hard time, nor that they got voted off in preference to Ray? Has to be a fix! :D I think they are brilliant!

Check them out and make up your own minds.

Oct. 21st, 2006 @ 08:01 pm Updates! Updates! Everywhere!
I've posted the latest chapter of Recaptured and it's here:-

Recaptured 132 – L'Amie Inconnue

This is my second update in less than a month! So I won't apologise for not updating, but I do need to say sorry for not announcing the update here! I tend to rely on [info]marigoldg to do that for me!

The earlier update can be found here Recaptured 131 – Hearts and Minds and does actually contain a, hopefully, thorough Recap of Recap to bring you up-to-date should you have forgotten what was going on.

A quick word about the latest chapter though.

When I first met Pippin's strange friend, I realised that he needed a name. One obligingly presented itself in the form of my daughter's similar childhood friend and the name that appears in the story is exactly that.

Any later similarity to another name surprised me just as much as it may the reader! Very strange! Makes me wonder just what is going on in the Universe!

Please enjoy the story and do please let me know if you want more.

Heddwch!
Llinos

PS [info]knittedmerry and [info]knittedpippin send their regards and would like me to assure all their friends that the final part of [info]knittedpippin's Very Important Search for Spring will be along soon.

[info]knittedmerry has been Very Busy, what with writing poetry, driving JCB's and running the World in his spare time. [info]knittedpippin has been redesigning my house to look like a cereal box, had a lot of things to count (I have 33½ pairs of shoes) and reading stories to several spiders that dropped by.

But they say the conclusion will be along soon. Well at least before the year draws to a close!

Jun. 28th, 2006 @ 09:31 pm Happy (belated) Birthday Marigold!

Happy Birthday Marigold!

This piece is dedicated to [info]marigoldg on the occasion of your birthday, in the hope that one day you may find the time to read it all.

This is a vignette taken from the Broken World universe, a role play in which Merry and Pippin are favoured slaves in the mines of Moria, after Sauron regained his Ring and the Quest did not (yet) happen.

I named this, originally, small character after [info]marigoldg but she has grown dear to my heart, just as her namesake has.

WARNING!! Oh and if you're popping over to read, it does contain some violence (well quite a bit actually) and references to non-con and slash! If you're still with me, it's here.

Or just the Marigold bit is under the cut... )

Luv from
Liza & Tasha

PS: This entry is a day late because I was helping my sister to move house yesterday and today.
PPS: For those of you who have left [info]marigoldg Birthday wishes over the last couple of days, her old computer died on her yesterday and she is still waiting for the new machine to be commissioned! But she promises to answer all mail asap. Ll.
